What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a common eye condition where the front of your eye is unevenly curved. This results in blurry or distorted vision and can sometimes cause eye-strain or headaches.
It can affect people at any age and is one of the most common forms of sight correction in the UK & Ireland.
On your eye test prescription, the correction called ‘CYL’ refers to the amount of astigmatism you have, the ‘AXIS’ refers to how that correction needs to be positioned on your eye.
If your ‘CYL’ correction is 0.75D or higher, a ‘Toric’ contact lens
may be required to give you the best vision possible*.
