One size does not fit all eyes

Niji 1

50% of patients may not be properly fitted with their contact lenses

The average horizontal visible iris diameter (HVID) is 11.6 to 12.0mm, from which we usually calculate the lens diameter but only 50% of patients fall within this range of HVID. This means that the other half of the patient population may be wearing contact lenses that are suboptimal as they are either too large or too small for the patient’s eye.1, 2

A custom contact lens to satisfy unmet needs

Based on our experience, we have learned that it is important to look at the entire lens design, not just one or two parameters when it comes to a better lens fit. Therefore, we chose some specific lens parameter combinations to create Menicon Niji, a semi-customized lens, with an enhanced lens fit compared to conventional disposable lenses.
